Bicom Therapy FAQs
You have questions, and we have answers! For new and veteran users alike, there is a lot to remember when it comes to giving your patients the best care possible using Bicom therapy. Below are some questions that we get asked a lot (and of course, the answers are there too!). Please reach out to us at any time if you have other questions. We’d love to hear from you!

Should basic therapy be applied before each session?
We recommend applying basic therapy once a week rather than before each session.
How often can I treat a patient using Bicom therapy?
In acute cases, you can treat a patient up to once daily. In chronic cases, we recommend to treat the patient just once a week.
Are there any instructions that patients should follow after receiving Bicom therapy?
The most important thing the patient should do is drink a lot of water after therapy. It is best if the water is low in mineral content. If possible, the patient should go outdoors and spend some (calm!) time in fresh air as their body regulates.
Which side of the flexible electrodes has to be placed on the patient?
Place the smooth black side on the patient. It should directly contact the patient’s fur, feathers, or skin.
How do I use the flexible electrodes on diseased or otherwise painful areas of the patient’s body?
If necessary, you can place moist gauze between the flexible electrode and the patient’s body.
Do the electrodes have to be strapped in place?
Electrodes don’t need to be strapped in place, but it can sometimes be useful to attach the electrode to the animal if they are moving around or standing up. Since most animals relax during treatment, it usually isn’t necessary!
How can I clean flexible electrodes?
Use a soft moist cloth and disinfectant to clean the flexible electrodes
Which electrodes can I put in a sterilizer?
The goldfinger and the dental electrodes can be sterilized in a sterilizer up to 273° F.
Can I warm up the electrodes before use?
You can warm up the electrodes for sensitive patients (such as hairless animals) by wrapping them in a towel and placing them on a heating pad (just make sure they don’t get too hot!).
How can I clean brass electrodes?
To clean brass electrodes, you can use a mixture of glass and metal cleaner in a ratio of 2 parts glass cleaner, 3 parts metal cleaner, or 1 part glass cleaner, 3 parts metal cleaner. For especially dirty electrodes, change the ratio to 1 part glass cleaner, 2 parts metal cleaner. Afterwards, use a disinfectant. Never clean the electrodes with just water!
Can someone else be near the electrodes or hold them during therapy?
Others can be near the electrodes, but you should try to collect only the patient’s input information. Especially during appointments for small dogs or cats, an owner may have the animal in their lap and therefore also receive part of the therapeutic output, and this is typically fine. Just in case, please be aware of the contraindications regarding third parties!
Are there any contraindications regarding the use of certain electrodes?
If your patient has a pacemaker, defibrillator, and/or implants, do not use the magnetic depth probe or the articulated probe. Do not place these electrodes on the abdomen of pregnant animals.
Are there any contraindications regarding DMI therapy?
Do not use DMI therapy after organ transplants, for patients with hemophilia, or with patients who have a tendency to bleed due to OP or medication.
Is it possible that the body will have any negative reactions from Bicom therapy?
Tiredness and headaches may occur if the patient did not drink enough water during or after the therapy session. If necessary, you can treat this problem with program 127 (Harmonize).
Which way do I have to put the chips into the chip memory device?
Either way! It’s not important which side faces up or down.
How long does the chip hold information?
The chip will hold information for a maximum of 4 weeks.
Can I use a chip more than once?
We don’t recommend re-using chips, for several reasons. The first is for hygienic purposes. The second is that it’s possible that previous frequencies will remain on the chip. For both of these reasons, please don’t use one chip for several patients!
Can a chip also be charged in the output cup?
Chips will only receive a charge if they are charged in the chip memory device.
Can the chips cause irritation?
Because the chips contain traces of nickel, they can cause irritation in rare cases. If irritation occurs, stop using the chip and switch to minerals or oils instead.
How can my patients use the chips day to day?
Attach the chips to the animal’s collar. If the animal’s water bowl is not made of metal, you can also attach it to the bowl.
If I place oils and minerals in the output cup, do they hold the information from the second channel?
The second channel can’t charge oils, mineral, or chips. In order to include the information from the second channel, place the oils or minerals onto the opened chip memory device (for Optima) or the chip memory slot (for Optima mobile).
Do I have to put all of information into the input cup that the device tells me to?
These are recommendations, so please use whichever substances are available. We have found using symptom-related excretions / secretions (spit, blood, etc.) to be especially effective.
If using a sample such as spit or blood, how much (volume-wise) should be put into the input cup?
Even the tiniest quantities should be sufficient (such as in swabs). These types of samples should always be placed in glass containers (not plastic).
What substances should I put in which cups?
Input cup (black): Straining substances (e.g. allergens) or body’s own secretions / excretions
Output cup (red): Drops and / or oils
Honeycomb / yellow cup: Stabilizing substances
Is there a certain side of the modulation mat that should be facing the patient?
Either side works! Both sides emit a therapy field up to a distance of about 1.6 feet.
